This fall Muskegon, MI based Alternative Energy Solutions formed a collaboration with Ohio based Algae Venture Systems (AVS) for the purpose of further exploring and developing uses of Algae oil as it relates to energy. Initially the two companies will be utilizing the AVS concentration and harvesting technology at the Muskegon County Waste Water Treatment facility but have also been in discussion regarding multiple projects around western Michigan.
Dried algae collected from an AVS HarvesterThe primary focus for AES is to harvest algae for use in it’s proprietary diesel fuel called Organic Diesel (formerly called OLE). The AVS harvesting technology also allows for further uses of the bio mass collected after the oil is harvested, which has potential applications as a Bio-mass source for various energy and non energy purposes that AES is actively exploring.
